When I first starting thinking about opening Metropolitan Physical Therapy, I really wanted it to benefit the community in other ways besides fixing your back or your knee. My wife and I happen to be strong believers in “giving back”, so the idea of strong communities is really important to us. (She also happens to have a degree in non-profit management and spends her professional career raising money so kids can have an opportunity for a good high school education.)
Our social responsibility program is simple. We take a dollar from each new patient that comes to our clinic and it goes in our social responsibility fund. When that fund gets to a certain amount, we give that money to local non-profits and charities in the community, specifically the communities of Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Broomfield, Boulder, and other small towns close to the clinic. These proceeds will go to organizations that promote education, arts, music, science, and improving the community. No money will go to any political organizations.
Last month, we cut a nice check to help the children of Red Hawk Elementary PTO in Erie, Colorado. The goal was to promote children in the area to have an active lifestyle.
